In Conversation with: Jimi Famurewa

29th July

Jimi Famurewa has an embarrassment of awards and an intimidating CV. In 2021 alone, he won Restaurant Writer of the Year at both the Fortnum & Mason Awards and the Guild of Food Writers Awards. You will likely have read his work in the Guardian, Wired, GQ, and Observer Food Monthly, or a much-missed favourite of the millennials in the QV office, Shortlist.

As former Restaurant Critic for the Evening Standard, a visit from Jimi could strike fear into the hearts of a chef or restaurateur, were he not so disarmingly decent.

Jimi has recently published Picky: From fussy child to professional gourmet (Hodder & Stoughton). The book is a warm, funny and at times poignant memoir, charting a life in food, from stuffing school mashed potato in his pockets, to family meals preserving their Nigerian roots through jollof and suya, to his judging Michelin hopefuls on MasterChef. Jamie Oliver has called it ‘A feast for the mind and soul.’

On 29th July, Jimi will join Crispin in conversation to discuss all the above and hopefully also stray wildly into gossip of all kinds. Picky will be available to buy and have signed by Jimi.

Tickets are free for members and their guests to attend but must be booked. Email events@qvsoho.co.uk to book.
