Quo Vadis & Friends: ​Anna Tobias

Anna Tobias’ culinary career began under the tutelage of our very own Jeremy Lee, when he was head chef at Blueprint Cafe and Anna was focused on pastry.

From there, ​she went on to River Cafe and then Rochelle Canteen, where she secured her own first head chef role. A period of freelancing followed, including a celebrated residency at the wine bar, P.Franco.

​Anna opened Café Deco with her business partners – the team behind 40 Maltby Street- in the middle of lockdown, November 2020. A wild ride, but the restaurant recently celebrated its 1st birthday, with multiple magnums of good wine.

​Anna says, ” I would describe the food we cook as broadly European! The primary aim is to use excellent ingredients and keep it simple. I like to encourage people to appreciate the qualities of classical cooking. A lightness of touch is always something I try to bring to my food. And of course, I hope it’s delicious!”
